It gives you instant access to an inspiring library with production-ready sounds. Nemesis comes with an astounding collection of 1065(!) hand-picked patches. Each sound has been carefully built by a professional sound-designer and has been crafted with a lot of love and great attention to detail. The patches are very easy-to-mix, because they've been carefully EQed, pre-mastered and are in perfect sync to your track tempo. All patches have been sorted into categories and you can find quickly what you need. You can tag your favorites with a ranking-system.

There are 48 high quality effects available that can be combined with each other. Flexible routing options complete the extensive effects section. Nemesis offers smart-micro-tuning, which automatically analyzes the notes played to improve the sound of chords. An optional psychoacoustic module gives your tracks more kick and volume. Setup & Pychoacoustics

The GUI can be displayed with two different scales: Small and big. It is also possible to hide parts of the interface, like the keyboard, when you don't need it.
Nemesis offers many different play-modes like Polyphonic, Monophonic, Legato New, Legato Classic and Multi Mono.
The synthesizer offers several innovative micro-tuning modes, which make chords sound more harmonic, fat and transparent.

Matrix

By using drag & drop or the matrix, Nemesis allows you to connect dozens of modulation sources to sound parameters. Modulate almost any parameter up into the audio-rate speed, from internal modulation sources like the LFOs, to a wide variety of MIDI messages. We've also included midi-learn, so assigning CC's is as simple as a right-click.



NeoFM

Nemesis takes FM synthesis onto its next evolutionary step: NeoFM synthesis.
Traditional "FM synths" like the DX7 have a limited sonic range. They can only produce good results with sine-waves or very dull waveforms that don't contain high frequencies. The damped waveforms help to camouflage the aliasing when a higher amount of FM modulation is used.
Nemesis does not have this limitation and is able to handle all waveforms properly. Finally, you can use any waveform as a source or destination for FM or PM modulation without a headache! It even works with short samples or extremely long and complex waveforms. It is also possible to import your own waveforms in .wav format. You can use the additive spectrum editor to create new waveforms or modify existing ones.
Nemesis can handle a greater FM-modulation-depth and wider frequency-range than competing synthesizers, as it never sounds awkward due to aliasing. The sum of all this dramatically expands the sonic range.

Tuning

Controls the tuning of the Carrier Oscillator.

Drift & Detuning

Turning this control clockwise will detune the oscillator.
Turning this control counter-clockwise will apply oscillator drift to the oscillator.

Feedback

Introduces a dirty feedback signal into the oscillator. It can also be used the shape waveforms.

Envelope 2 send level

Controls how much of Envelope2's modulation is applied to Damp-Filter.

Carrier Oscillator Filter

The filters in Nemesis do not work like classic VA / Subtractive filters. They are innovative 0phase-filters which operate directly on the waveform and are specifically optimized to be used with neoFM synthesis.
There are several advantages to this: They provide two additional real-time controls for shaping your FM sound, offer a more precise sound, do not suffer from phase shift, and filter with a 90dB slope per octave. This extreme slope is useful for the FM and punchy sounds, due to the filter cutoff being lowered very quickly. At times this can sound too warm or dark for certain sounds.

Carrier Oscillator Mix

Controls how much of the carrier oscillator's signal is mixed in.

Tuning

Controls the tuning of the Modulator Oscillator.

Oscillator Phase

Adjusts the oscillator's starting phase. When set to a value of zero the oscillator's start phase will be Free running & Global.
Changing the Oscillator phase can be used to clean up your sound.

FM key follow

When this is set to a higher positive value and a higher key is played it will result in more frequency modulation (FM) being applied to the sound.
If you play a low key the sound will have less frequency modulating being applied.

Envelope1 send level

Controls how much of Envelope1's modulation is applied to the Neo FM control.

Modulator Oscillator Filter

Glide

This knob adjusts how quickly the current note's pitch glides to the next note's pitch.
You can use it in combination with various playmodes like Legato, Monophonic and Polyphonic.

Unison

The Unison section offers both a 2x and 4x Unison mode which layers multiple copies of the voices.
The Spread knob works in combination with the two Unison modes and allows you to select the amount of detuning and spread that is applied to the different copies of the sound.
The Stereo knob is controlling the amount of stereo separation between the voices.

LFOs

Nemesis has 2 LFOs with 6 different waveforms and BPM-sync, a Step Sequencer and 16 additional LFOs with sine waveform.
Do you want to use the LFO to wobble your sound? Simply drag&drop it onto a knob and you've got it. Modulation can be as simple or complex as you want. Use drag&drop or the modulation-matrix to connect dozens of sources to all important sound parameters.

Envelopes

The Amp-Envelope in the global section is used to control Volume characteristics like volume Attack, Decay, Sustain and Release.
Nemesis also offers two auxilary envelopes called ENV1 & ENV2. They can be used to control various parameters by assigning them through the modulation matrix.

Did you know that the DX7 is no FM-synth?
From a technical perspective, "FM synthesizers" like the DX7 are not really FM synths. Instead, they use a sometimes similar sounding technique called phase-modulation (PM) to generate sounds. The DX7 was advertised as a "FM synthesizer" for marketing reasons. Later many other companies adopted this popular but technically incorrect term in their marketing.

Neo-FM: The future of FM Synthesis


Neo-FM is not just a marketing buzzword.
Nemesis heralds the next evolutionary step in FM synthesis
: NeoFM synthesis.

Digital and analog - the best of both worlds combined:
Digital synthesizers and especially FM/PM synths can suffer from aliasing. This means in practise, that patches that are played with a high pitch can sound unpleasant and metallic, as they contain frequencies that shouldn't be there.
A couple of  analog synthesizers can produce true FM. They do not suffer from aliasing, but they do suffer from slightly detuned oscillators (drift). This leads to very disharmonic FM sidebands. Most of these sounds are musically unusable.
The innovative NeoFM approach combines the advantages of both worlds without taking on their respective weaknesses. It's now easier than ever to achieve great-sounding results.

True high-end sound quality:
To reduce aliasing, some more advanced FM synthesizers from the competition use 2x or 4x oversampling. This increases CPU requirements but still doesn't make them completely alias-free. Nemesis, on the other hand, offers perfect sound quality, using 70000x oversampling!

Low CPU requirements:
Experts may doubt that such high quality is even possible on today's computers, as they would be far too slow for it. However, with Nemesis we are able to prove otherwise. We use native support for multi-core CPUs, preprocessing, FFT transforms and clever DSP tricks to achieve perfect sound quality with low CPU usage.

Wussten Sie, dass der DX7 kein FM-Synthesizer ist?
Technisch gesehen sind "FM-Synthesizer" wie der DX7 nicht wirklich FM-Synthesizer. Drastisch erweiterte klangliche Bandbreite:
Herkömmliche "FM-Synths" können nur mit Sinuswellen oder sehr dumpfen Wellenformen, die keine hohen Frequenzen enthalten, gute Ergebnisse erzielen. Die gedämpften Wellenformen helfen, das Aliasing zu kaschieren, wenn ein höherer Anteil an FM-Modulation verwendet wird.
Nemesis hat diese Einschränkung nicht und ist in der Lage, alle Wellenformen richtig zu verarbeiten. Endlich können Sie jede beliebige Wellenform als Quelle oder Ziel für die FM-Modulation verwenden, ohne Kopfschmerzen zu bekommen! Es funktioniert sogar mit kurzen Samples oder extrem langen und komplexen Wellenformen. Es ist möglich, Ihre eigenen Wellenformen im .wav-Format zu importieren. Sie können den additiven Spektrum-Editor verwenden, um neue Wellenformen zu erstellen oder bestehende zu verändern.
Nemesis kann mit einer größeren FM-Modulationstiefe und einem breiteren Frequenzbereich umgehen als konkurrierende Synthesizer, da er nie durch Aliasing unangenehm klingt. Die Summe von alldem erweitert die klangliche Bandbreite drastisch und ermöglicht Klänge, die nicht mit anderen Synthesizern erzeugt werden können .

Echte High-End-Sound-Qualität:
Um Aliasing zu reduzieren, verwenden einige fortschrittlichere FM-Synthesizer von der Konkurrenz 2x oder 4x Oversampling. Das erhöht den CPU-Bedarf aber macht sie noch immer nicht vollkommen alias-frei. Nemesis hingegen bietet perfekte Klangqualität, da hier 70.000x Oversampling verwendet wird!

Geringer CPU-Bedarf:
Experten mögen bezweifeln, dass eine so hohe Qualität auf den heutigen Computern überhaupt möglich ist, da diese dafür viel zu langsam wären. Mit Nemesis sind wir jedoch in der Lage, das Gegenteil zu beweisen. Wir verwenden native Unterstützung für Multi-Core-CPUs, FFT-Transformationen und clevere DSP-Tricks, um perfekte Klangqualität bei geringer CPU-Belastung zu erreichen.
